Rounds

There are 8 three week rounds of play. For the first three (3) rounds, two teams will move up and two teams will move down. The last five (5) rounds consists of only one team moving up and one moving down.
  1. A round shall consist of 3 matches over 3 weeks with the exception of special circumstances that require postponement or cancellation. Each match will be the best of 5 games or to the time limit of the gym played in, whichever occurs first. The first 4 games will be rally point to 25. The winning team must win by 2 points or to a maximum of 27. The 5th game if necessary will be rally point to 15 or to the time limit of the gym, won by 2 points or to a maximum of 17.
  2. The winning team of any match must phone or e-mail their scores to the league by 11:00PM of the day immediately following the particular match. If both teams are tied (i.e. equal number of games won), each team is required to phone or e-mail the scores to the league. The match will be determined to be a match tie (2pts as per rule 3 below).
  3. The round standings shall be determined by points (3pts for a win, 2pts for a tie, 1 pt for a loss and 0 pts for a default/late score submission).
  4. At the end of each round, if two or more teams are tied following the point ranking, the following criteria will be applied, in order:
    1. If a tie exists between two teams, then the team that won the match, in which the two tied teams played, will be determined to be the higher ranked team.
    2. If a tie still exists between two teams, then the team with the best ratio of won/lost games, considering ALL matches of the round, will be the higher ranked team.
    3. If a tie still exists between two teams, then the team having the best ratio of points for/against, considering games played between the tied teams, will be the higher ranked team.
    4. If a tie exists between three teams, then the team with the best ratio of won/lost games, considering matches played between the tied teams, will be the higher ranked team.
    5. If a tie still exists between three teams, then the team with the best ratio won/lost games, considering ALL matches of the round, will be the higher ranked team.
    6. If a tie still exists between two teams, then the team having the best ratio of points for/against, considering games played between the tied teams, will be the higher ranked team.
    7. If a tie still exists after rule 4.3 or 4.6, then a coin toss will be used to determine which team is to be the higher ranked team.
