Spectator Expectations

Mill Woods Recreational Volleyball is an adult league for people over the age of 18. Recreational sports are becoming more and more popular with an increasing number of spectators in our gyms. We would hope that with this increase that all members be aware of any people who are not there to watch volleyball and to direct these people out of the school.

The following is a written guideline that was reviewed at the start up meeting with all people in attendance. It is recommended by the Mill Woods Recreational Volleyball Society that these guidelines be followed for the safety of players, spectators and property. This is to ensure that our members feel that play can continue throughout the year in a safe environment for all.

  1. If a public seating area is provided we recommend that all spectators view the volleyball games from this area.
  2. If no public seating area is provided then it is suggested that spectators view the games from the team bench or team area.
  3. Any child under the age of 12 should have a non-playing person supervise them for the safety of themselves and all individuals in the gym.
  4. For player and spectator safety it is recommended that all spectators remain seated until play has stopped and it is safe to move about.
  5. The officials of the games have the right to ask a spectator to leave the school if they are compromising the safety of players, other spectators, or property of the school.
