Sub-List

The Sub -List is a list of players who are members of the MWRVS volleyball league. They are allowed to play in the league as members, but are not permanently on a team's roster.

As a rule, any team in the league is allowed one sub per night of play. A sub is any player who is not on that team's roster, but a member of the league by being on a different team's roster. Normally, team's who are short a player will borrow a player from another team as a sub for that match. MWRVS has provided another option for teams to obtain a sub without any penalties.

Teams must inform the league that they are interested in a sub for their team. The League will not give out contact information about the player-sub, but rather contact the player from the sub list that a team is interested of their services. It is the responsibility of the sub to contact the team to make arrangements to play. Subs from the Sub-List are considered full members of the MWRVS.

Once the team and the sub have played with each other they can exchange contact information, if they would like to further play with each other.

MWRVS does not guarantee that a player on the sub-list will play. This works on the principle of supply and demand. Guys are a dime a dozen; it's easy to find a guy to help sub for one night. The highest demand is for female players and is more likely for females to be added to a team rather a male player.

To be on the sub list, you have to fill out the sub-list form and mail it to the league along with a $10.00 cheque made paybable to: Mill Woods Recreational Volleyball Society. MWRVS has 24 tiers with tier 1 being the most competitive and tier 24 being the least. Therefore, indicate your skill level in tiers, so that we can match you with the teams. For example, around tiers 8-12 means you are comfortable playing within this range.

Pros

• Great way for players to meet people and network with teams
• Possibility of getting onto a team's roster
• Great way to test out team chemistry for teams and subs
• Great way to find a team that fits your competitiveness or social outing
• Great way for teams to add players to their roster without holding another tryout practice
• Good for teams to test out players skills
• Players are a member of MWRVS and can spare/sub for a number of teams
• Great way to meet other single players with the possibility of forming a team for the following season

Cons

• The risk is $10.00. You may go the whole season without subbing for any team.
• Subs do not get a banquet ticket to the year-end social

At any point in time, if the team would like to add the sub-player to their roster, they must contact the league (466-9772) or email office@mwrvs.ca to transfer the sub-player from the Sub-List to the Team's Roster.

If the team is below the 12 person roster limit, they are allowed to add players without any transfer fee. If the team is at the 12 person limit, then a $10.00 transfer fee shall be applied along with the name of the player to be removed from their roster to remain under the 12 person roster limit. It is the responsibility of the teams to collect any additional fees, if any, to cover team fee costs.
